When I first received this assignment, I knew one thing, which was, I know nothing about marketing! I had no idea where I was going to begin when choosing topics to blog about each week. I am very passionate about two things: college football (specifically the Arkansas Razorbacks) and nursing, more specifically, pediatric nursing. I decided to go with healthcare, thinking it would help broaden my knowledge in both nursing & healthcare and marketing.
I have worked as a pediatric nurse for the last two years. I adore children, which in turn helps me adore my job, even on the tough days. I don't know where my career will lead me, nursing or who knows what else, but I know I always want it to involve children to some capacity. Now, to the inspiration!
If you've read many of my posts, they often revolve around the world of pediatrics. The patients I have dealt with in the past two years in my time as a peds nurse have inspired me to talk about topics and issues that children deal with, for example, the new Sesame Street Muppet, Julia, who has Autism, or the Teal Pumpkin Project, which encourages people to hand out non-food items at Halloween that way everyone can participate and not run the risk of having an allergic reaction to food or candy. Through researching for this blog, I have been able to apply this knowledge to my patients I see at work. I have been able to pass along information to their parents and use it as a resource, which, in turn, is marketing.
The Nurse Is In, has certainly taught me more than I thought it would and has given me inspiration from the tiniest of humans. Thank you for reading my posts this semester and for sticking with me through the end! Who knows, maybe I'll continue my blog even after my assignment is over!
